Forthcoming PARN event: The Three Pillars of Professional Standards

Wednesday 20 October 2010
London

In the context of PARN's 2010 initiative, The Professions Fight Back, PARN's October event - The Three Pillars of Professional Standards - will look at how professional bodies can prove the effectiveness of their professional standards.

The event will present different ways that people try to measure the success of professional standards, and introduce a PARN model on the different types of measurement.

An in-depth presentation of PARN's 'Three Pillars' model will also be given; this model is based on research conducted for the Financial Services Authority (FSA) in 2009 and focuses on three aspects of professional standards - Entry Standards; Complaints and Discipline; CPD and Positive Supports for Ethical Behaviour - and the choices that professional bodies can make within each. Download the PARN report for the FSA.

Case studies from professional bodies who have attempted to measure success will highlight the benefits and challenges of measuring the effectiveness of professional standards.

The event will also look at aspects of marketing and communications, and discuss how the effectiveness of professional standards can be communicated to consumers/clients/patients, media and other stakeholders.
